Paris, France

Most Camembert is garbage, and Napoleon definitely didn’t invent the baguette. Want to know more? Then you should definitely be tuning into Fishwives of Paris, the rigorously researched and cheeky French food podcast that has spent the past year mythbusting French cuisine.
After an extremely successful first year, co-hosts Caroline Fazeli and Emily Monaco are ramping up to double their output with a new weekly schedule. Fishwives of Paris airs every Tuesday on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts.
TLDR? The season 2 trailer tells this story better than any press release could.
Who Are the Fishwives of Paris?
Caroline and Emily have spent a combined 30+ years living and working in the French food world.
Caroline Fazeli is a WSET 4-certified sommelière and the owner of Lyon Wine Tastings, where she’s been based for nearly a decade. She’s also a former blind wine tasting champion at Oxford and former professional chef with a diploma from the Cordon Bleu. Caroline has 160k+ followers on Instagram as WineDineCaroline, where she tells it like it is about Lyon, life in France, food, and wine.
Emily Monaco is a culinary journalist whose work has appeared everywhere from the BBC to the Michelin Guide. An international cheese judge and cheese expert, she’s also been quoted in legacy media including the Telegraph and the Times on all things French cheese. A naturalized French citizen who’s resided in Paris since 2007, she regularly tries to use French words in an American accent and hopes for the best.
What Happened on Season One?
Caroline and Emily challenged the etymological accuracy of charcuterie boards, zeroed in on when the restaurant was invented (around the time of the United States, FWIW), and interviewed exceptional guests including master baker Apollonia Poilâne. And their approach bore delicious fruit!
